june is here and it brings a new menu!

Moon Maiden Flower Farm, Booth #71, E. New England Ave.

First harvest of hoophouse snapdragons! These classic beauties have a light sweet scent, like bubble gum or sunscreen. Snaps have a long vase life AND to all my cat people, they are not toxic to our sweet furballs!

Silver Bridge Coffee Co., Booth #68, Dewey’s Plaza

Lorraine, our founder, built this business with a dream and determination. Philip has been beside her supporting that dream every step of the way. Abby and Andrew work full-time in the business. Sarah and Emily are always available even with full-time work and school commitments. And we are so proud of Ben and the important role he plays on the team.

Small business is a roller coaster. It can be exhausting, stressful, and unpredictable. When you support Silver Bridge, you’re supporting a real family, working hard, showing up for each other, and doing our best every single day.

And for that, we are so thankful.

Veggie Spy

June brings some new produce to the market and many of our faves are still around too! Here’s some highlights:

  • Broccoli raab (or rappini) has long slender stalks with small broccoli-like florets. They are more similar to turnips and great for stir fry  - Franklinton Farms.

  • Goumi berries are an East Asian fruit that is both sweet and tart – Mayapple Farms.

  • Chamomile – Franklinton Farms.

  • Cherry tomatoes – Raber and Wishwell.

The Versatile Vegan suggest that broccoli raab (or sprouting broccoli) be grilled, like in this Char Grilled Sprouting Broccoli with Sweet Tahini.

Goumi berries are packed with vitamins and antioxidants and work great for jelly. Click here for a recipe!

Chamomile is an herb that is in the daisy family and is used as a flavoring and for herbal teas. Try them in these unique tasting Vegan Chamomile Sugar Cookies!
