A note on the operations side! The current plan is to be off the Worthington Farmers Market for 2 weeks, 10/3 and 10/10, returning on 10/17. So I look forward to seeing you all for a stock up this week! Locals, the farm stand is always open for eggs, and pre-orders are always welcome to pick up at the farm stand as well!

Pie Tasting Contest!

Is your pie the star of the holiday table? Preferred over cake for birthdays? Favorite dessert in the family?

Saturday, October 17, we’re throwing a pie-tasting party! Bring your prize-worthy pie to the information booth by 9:00am. We’ll provide napkins and forks and serve up the tasty bites. Market patrons will be our taste testers!

Three Pie Categories: Fruit Pie, Fall/Harvest Pie, Savory Pie. (Limit of 4 pies per category – so sign up soon!).

The newest member of the Sweet Ghost Hall of Fame is Chelsea Kayse, Market Manager for the Worthington Farmers Market.

Farmers markets are such an important outlet for small businesses like ours, and for the communities they serve. It’s a low cost way for producers to sell directly to consumers and introduce their brands. It’s a place where people can walk around, enjoy the weather, bump into their neighbors, and purchase unique local foods.

There are tons of worthy farmers markets around Central Ohio, and Worthington is one of the crown jewels. With hundreds of vendors, and thousands of visitors a week, someone has to coordinate it all. That’s where Chelsea comes in.

Managing all of the vendors, the visitors, the city, the volunteers, the press… it’s a lot. Chelsea not only manages these things well, but also brings a positivity to the market every week that is infectious.

USA Today has consistently ranked the Worthington Farmers Market as Top 10 in the country, and for good reason. Customers come every week, and so do the vendors. That doesn’t happen by accident.

When you make a television show, the director stays behind the camera. You see what’s on the screen, and you take for granted when a show is good how intentional a director’s choices are. Until you have a bad director. The director is the invisible hand that makes everything happen with purpose.

Chelsea’s the one behind the camera. And she delivers for the market every week. That means a lot to a small business like ours.
